Which service provider is right for you? Well, provided you live in a well-populated area, chances are that you’ll have a plethora of providers just waiting to service you. Once you choose a provider, you’ll have to figure out which plan you want as well. The estimated number of minutes that you’ll use, in addition to the people and places you’ll generally be calling the most, should all play factors in your decision. The cell phone companies will give you a great deal when you first sign up, so that’s when you should really take advantage of their offers. You might even get a free phone out of the deal. Oftentimes, however, there will be a catch in that you have to remain with them for two years or something like that.
Factors that you may want to take into consideration when making your decision as well include paying additional fees for roaming, long distance, and text messaging. The various types of plans available, (and this is not a comprehensive list), include family package rates, monthly and prepaid plans, and shared plans in which the airtime is distributed amongst a couple people.
You also may want to look into how good the service is and who has the best coverage of the area you spend the most of your time in, (i.e. how many calls get dropped in that area and so forth). You can read reviews on different providers online in addition to talking to other people and seeing how they feel about their particular providers. Do their providers fix their issues in a timely and consistent manner? How many dropped calls do they experience per week?
Once you’ve done your homework, then pick the provider and plan that’s right for you and go for it! Remember that you can always change your minutes and plan if you need more or less than you originally anticipated.
