There is definitely no shortage of providers nor plans to choose from. In fact, the choices can often quickly become overwhelming. Should you choose a plan with or without a contract, a monthly plan, a prepaid plan, a family plan, or an individual plan?
Once you’ve chosen a provider to work with, the next step is to choose which plan is right for you. The plan will cover the terms of your service, so it’s important to conduct a little research beforehand. One option might be a typical monthly plan in which you have a certain amount of minutes already paid for. Once you go over this limit, you begin to accrue additional charges. Conversely, you may prefer a prepaid plan.
Each plan will show how many local, long distance, and peak minutes you’ll be charged for. Also, look into if you’ll be charged extra for roaming (i.e. leaving your particular area) and exactly how much you’ll be charged should you exceed your monthly limit. The rate can be quite high. Spend some time thinking about whether or not you can foresee yourself exceeding the monthly limit. If you currently have a cell phone, take a look at your statements to see how many minutes you use on average. Also take a gander at any roaming charges or text messaging fees. The Internet (as always), can be a very valuable resource as well in parsing out the best plan for you.
