Sometimes a cell phone contract may seem somewhat daunting. If so, there’s always the option of entering into a “non-contract” contract, in the loosest sense of the word “contract”. These can be perfect for people who want to wait a couple of months to see how many minutes they’ll end up using. They’re also nice for those people who may be moving abroad or simply aren’t sure where they’ll be in a year or so. Non-contracted plans are sometimes called month-to-month plans as well. An alternative might be looking into a pre-paid plan, which doesn’t require the commitment of a contract either.
Plans without contracts are ideal for those people needing flexibility. The conditions of the non-contracted plan can change from monthly, allowing a person to add free long-distance if she realizes that she uses it more than she thought. Sometimes, providers will allow the person to carry over minutes that she did not use in the previous month.
One disadvantage to non-contracted plans is that most don’t offer incentives like a free phone every two years or large discounts on cell phone accessories. But, there’s the big advantage of being able to constantly be on the look out for that great plan that contains everything you need without being locked into a plan already.
